Rappahannock Council Against Sexual Assault (RCASA) strives to abide by the highest ethical standards regarding confidentiality. All communication with the hotline is strictly confidential to the extent permitted by law.
RCASA does not record hotline calls, nor does the agency release any identifying information about a caller, including to law enforcement or service providers. RCASA will not confirm that a specific individual has/has not called the hotline unless the caller provides RCASA with their explicit consent. RCASA will use caller ID in rare circumstances when the caller is in imminent danger and is necessary to ensure immediate safety of the caller or other person.
The Hotline is available 24-hours a day, seven days a week for crisis intervention. Trained volunteers and staff treat callers with empathy and compassion and provide referrals for community resources and services.
RCASA staff and volunteers are Mandated Reporters under the Code of Virginia. As Mandated Reporters, RCASA staff and volunteers must report to appropriate authorities suspected cases of child or elder abuse.
