Support Groups

Survivors of sexual assault often find it helpful to join a support group. Groups provide a confidential and supportive environment for members as they seek to identify the areas of their lives that have been affected by a sexual assault, regardless of time elapsed. Members learn healthier coping skills to integrate into their own personal relationships.

Psycho-educational support groups are a mixture of acceptance, support, validation and education. These groups are structured with a planned agenda to meet the needs of each individual group.

RCASA offers a basic 13-week group for adult survivors of sexual assault. The group closes after the first session and other interested persons must wait for the next group.

Typically, RCASA offers up to 4 of these groups per year. Separate groups are offered for males and females, based on the requests RCASA receives.

In addition to the basic groups RCASA offers survivors the opportunity to continue their healing journey through our Advanced Workshop Series. Participants must have completed basic group through RCASA before attending any of the advanced groups. These groups are 6 weeks in length and explore one main issue in depth. The advanced groups are open to both male and female survivors.

Other groups include Significant Others, Teens, Male Survivors and Non-Offending Parents as resources allow.
