All positions require an application, criminal background check and references.

Clerical Support
This position requires time during the workday. Duties include data entry, filing, phone calls, folding brochures, updating resources, stuffing envelopes, etc. The idea candidate would be able to come into the office on a regular basis and be willing to do a variety of jobs.

Fundraising Advocates
Volunteers in this position are called upon to help with all fundraising events. Such events include, Cookie Connection, Bluemont Concert, Crimes Against Nature and other events as they arise. Duties during fundraisers include anything from writing letters and posting signs to baking for the event or handling money at the event. Some volunteers in this position may be invited to join the Fundraising Committee, which
helps to create and organize fundraisers.

Education/Outreach Advocates/Interns
Volunteers in this position work in the Education Unit. This unit provides outreach and awareness presentations to various groups within the community, including churches, civic groups and schools. Duties of volunteers in this position include some data entry, public speaking, grading and compiling pre and post-tests, assembling packets for
presentations and even creating presentations. This internship is open to rising sophomores through seniors.

Marketing Interns
This position works directly with the Executive Director. Duties include keeping current with marketing techniques, enhancing effectiveness of written material, networking with area businesses, civic groups, and churches to promote RCASA services and working with information fairs and the Fundraising Committee. Duties may include other special projects as needed. This position is only open to seniors and rising seniors who have taken a marketing class or will take a marketing class in conjunction with the internship. Work will be conducted primarily during business hours with occasional meetings in the evening.

Volunteer Victim Advocates
This position is the mainstay of RCASA. Duties include providing crisis intervention, information, referrals, and advocacy over our 24-hour hotline, as well as hospital accompaniment to recent rape victims. This position requires forty hours of training and attendance at six volunteer meetings a year. Volunteer Victim Advocates are required to make a one-year commitment to serving four shifts a month.

Group Co-Facilitators/Interns
This position provides a unique opportunity to practice counseling skills in a group setting. Co-facilitators will be assigned a minimum of one group. Groups may consist of adults or teens depending on the topic. Duties will include coordinating time and location of group meetings, advertising, recording attendance, assembling handouts, and maintaining records of group participants for VADATA. Supervision will be provided during all group meetings. This position also provides opportunity to meet with experts in the field (Psychologists, LPC’s etc.).. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, it is open only to those volunteers who have served a minimum of one year as volunteer Victim Advocates prior to becoming co-facilitators. The internship credit is only available to seniors. This position requires day and evening hours.
